1. Where is the drop off location and how will I get there and back?
We will arrange several car pools and will update location for drop off. Parents may want to bring a cooler with them when picking up their child.
2. How long is the trip?
There is some flexibility, but expect a long day. If the fish is biting and everyone catches their limit, we will end earlier.
3. What should I bring?
Weather is unpredictable, warm clothes, layers, a secured hat (can get windy), sunscreen.
16 years and older require a fishing license. You can purchase this online or at Big-5 Sporting Goods. A specific day license is $20.26. (Do not purchase until your spot is confirmed). All other fishing equipment is provided.
4. Will there be food available?
I will send out a sign-up sheet for a potluck.
5. What is available on the boat?
There is limited seating indoors. A sink and bathroom. There is additional seating outside.
6. How much will this cost me?
Terry has graciously covered the cost of chartering the full boat as a thank you to all of you. Fishing excursions average $200/person. However, towards the end of the trip, the deckhand will offer to help clean and can fillet your fish if you wish. Generally speaking, the bag limit per day is 10 fish; $20 tip is appreciated. They also assist during the whole trip with your catch as needed.
7. What if I get seasick?
Everyone reacts differently on the water. There are over the counter product like Dramamine to help with motion sickness. Some people like to take one pill the night before and another one the morning of. Parents should read and understand the effects of Dramamine. See photo: I gave Tristan a Dramamine as soon as we got on the boat before take-off, within 5 minutes, he took a nap while we reached the honey hole (fishing spot).
If you do feel nauseated, keep a plastic bag with you, but most captains ask that you toss your cookies overboard.
Other tips: I find drinking ginger ale or tea helps me get through the day. Sometimes a quick nap or just closing my eyes can do the trick too. I usually don’t eat a big meal.
8. What if I have never fished before?
We have experienced fishermen/women to assist you.
